A few months after the events of September 11th, I flew from England to America by myself. Prior to leaving, I felt slightly apprehensive. My husband who is a huge Star Wars fan gave me his vintage Chewbacca Star Wars action figure that he had for years. I did not understand why but he soon told me the answer. Chewie is the best co-pilot in the galaxy so if he was on the plane with me, I would be safe.
Every flight that I have taken since then, Chewie has come with me. Sometimes, if my husband and (or) kids come with, we take extra characters along. We always have one for each person flying. If I am flying solo, I always get Chewie. If one of our boys comes along, he gets Chewie and I get Princess Leia. If both come along, one gets Chewie, one gets Luke, and I get Leia. Han Solo only comes along if my hubby comes with.
This past week, I attended a blogging conference in Ohio. As I was packing late last Tuesday night, my husband asked if I was completely packed. I said “yes”. “Did you pack Chewie?” he asked. Shockingly I had forgotten to. My hubby shot out of bed and frantically looked for him. After my husband found him, I carefully tucked Chewbacca in my purse pocket. We had a delay due to plane trouble on the way there and another delay on the way back which caused me to have to completely change my itinerary home. I have to admit that I did open up my purse and hold Chewie for a while both times because I was feeling unsettled. Now you know why I never fly solo unless, of course, my husband comes with and then Han (Solo) comes along too. Do you have any good luck charms? Let me know what they are!
