Owl Miss You Card

Owl Miss You card

I was at Walmart the other day looking at their craft section and I saw these cute little wooden painted owls that were only 57 cents each.  I needed to make some sort of cards for my son’s teachers for the last day of school and instead of the typical thank you cards, I decided to buy a couple of these owls and make “Owl Miss You” cards.  I think they turned out pretty cute and they were so easy. I could have cut owls using my cricut but I just fell in love with these little wooden ones.

Supplies:

Little Wooden Owl found at Walmart in the craft section: 57 cents
Piece of cardstock— I used mint green and cut it at 11 inches by 4.5 inches
Paper trimmer to cut the cardstock
Popsicle Stick for the branch
Brown marker or paint
Cuttlebug embossing machine (optional)
Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder (optional)
Cricut Machine (optional) (I used the Cricut to cut the words Owl Miss You but you can use your printer and print it on a coordinating piece of cardstock)
Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge (optional)
Brown Vinyl and transfer tape (optional)
Adhesive (I used a glue gun seeing as I was gluing wood and wanted it to be secure)

Instructions:

1. Trim the mint green cardstock to 4.5 inches by 11 inches
2. Fold the cardstock to make a card 4.5 x 5.5 inches
3. If you have a Cuttlebug or a different embossing machine, emboss the outside of the card. This is completely optional.
4. Using a brown marker or paint, color (or paint) the popsicle stick.
5. Adhere the popsicle stick and the owl to the card using the glue gun.
6. If you have a Cricut and vinyl, cut out the phrase Owl Miss You (I made the phrase 4 inches wide). Otherwise, print it on some cardstock, trim it to size and adhere.  If you use vinyl, I find the easiest setting to be 2 pressure, 2 depth, 2 speed.  Weed the excess vinyl and  apply it to the card using transfer tape.
