Cheap cleaning supplies made with products you can usually find around the house

Many people wonder how to make cheap cleaning supplies with items you usually have at home, but don’t know what to mix. How much of this;  how much of that? Which surfaces do you use it on? Is it really safe? If you have those questions and more, check out these simple homemade cleaning supply recipes below.

Natural Oven Cleaner

5T Baking soda
3 drops liquid dish soap
4T white vinegar

Mix all ingredients until they form a thick paste. Apply paste to the inside of your oven and scrub with a sponge. Wipe clean, and rinse thoroughly.

Furniture Polish

1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup lemon juice

Mix together in spray bottle and shake well. Apply a small amount to a flannel cleaning rag or cleaning cloth and spread evenly over furniture surface. Turn cloth over and polish dry.

Simplest Spray Cleaner

1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water

Mix together equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Use this all natural spray to clean countertops, floors, and even exterior surfaces of the toilet.

Soap Scum Cleaner

Sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge to tackle grimy bathtub rings.

Keep Drains Moving

Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into your drain, and run just enough hot water to wash it down. Let sit overnight, then flush thoroughly with hot water. This is also a deodorizer.

Glass Cleaner

1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Mix together in a spray bottle. Use just like you’d use a commercial window cleaner.

Creamy Bath Tub Scrub

1/2 cup of baking soda
liquid detergent (see amount below)

Pour the baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make it into a texture like frosting. Put the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface.

Mold and Mildew Repellent Spray

2 teaspoons tea tree oil
2 cups water

Mix together in a spray bottle and use on anything from a musty rug to a moldy shower curtain.

Air Freshener

Place bowls of fragrant dried herbs in any room of the house for a natural air freshener.

Boil orange peels and a dash of cinnamon on the stove to make your entire house smell festive.

Rust Remover

salt
lime

Pour a little salt on the rust, squeeze a lime over the salt. Let it soak for 2-3 hours. Use the leftover rind to scrub the rest of the rust off.

Carpet Stain Remover

Use club soda to remove stains right away, or dump cornmeal on big stains. Let soak for 15 minutes and vacuum up.

I have recently discovered how amazing baking soda and vinegar work for cleaning around the house. I now always have apple cider vinegar on hand due to it working great on pet oders ( I had a naughty cat that is no longer allowed inside). And now I plan on using the Carpet stain remover! Thank you!

You are welcome! I use baking soda and vinegar a lot and also lemon juice and lemons. I cut a lemon in half and clean my ceramic hob lol. It also makes the kitchen smell nice. You just need to wash it off with water afterwards.

Vinegar is not only great for cleaning but it’s also great for killing weeds outside; and it won’t hurt your plants! I keep it (half vinegar & half water) in a spray bottle for all around use.

I use vinegar in my laundry and it makes my clothes smell clean and fresh, and it also takes urine smells out of sheets and blankets…..
